This doesn't work for me

Whenever I type in the 255, it comes up with an exclamation point! I'm running Windows 7 RC, 64-bit. Any ideas?
Edit: Yes, I am using the numpad.

Right click the folder that you want to rename and then Press Alt+160 and press enter. For another icon, press Alt+160 twice. For the 3rd, you got the answer. ;)

Strange, Alt+33 should be for the ! character. Did you press and hold the Alt key, or have NumLock turned on?

Ohhhh wait I think I might have figured out the problem! Would 033 be "NLL" on a laptop numpad? What letters would I press? I have my keyboard in Colemak, so I might just have to press the qwerty characters because the numbers are more deeply rooted than just a language layout.

Californian,

It should be the same, but you can try Alt+33 to see what character you get. You can also open Character Map, and click on the different characters to see what the Alt+(number pad #) is for it in the lower right corner, if available for it, to see one of them may work for you as well. Usually a underscore character may work as well to.

back in XP i used to make custom Shell Objects using an app called SCCU. you could even customize their context menus. i assume it will also work in Windows 7, but have not tried it.
