Desktop Icons

I have tried everything to return my desktop icons to their original size, they have become very large. I have even tried a restore, but no luck, tried personalise and checked to see if they are set to the right size setting, and they are, but they are showing as massive. Can anyone help please? I am using windows 7, thanks.

Lets start with the obvious. Right click the desktop/view/small icons. If not try going to personalisation and choose the default aero theme.
What is your screen size and what is your resolution set to.(Right click desktop/screen resolution)
