Solved Desktop icons

I am running windows 7 enterprise and Recent Places just popped up on my decktop and I am unable to remove it. I know it's not a problem but I don't need it on my desktop. It did not come on the screen as a shortcut but as a full Icon.
what can I do to remove it from my desktop but not from the computer library?
I have tried to use the right mouse but to remove it but it is not an option.

Dragging it to my favorites worked. It created a copy that was then deleted. I refreshed my screen and all was good with the world
