Desktop Remains Frozen,Help!

Hi,
My desktop remains frozen after i turn my pc on...initially everythings fine but after half an hour or so the desktop freezes,i cant click on an icon, nor can i right click on an empty area. It gets really frustrating as i have to access the files placed on my desktop by opening my computer from the start menu. Taskbar works fine
Any solutions guys?

Do you have any yellow marks next to drivers? Are all of them updated, such as video and sound?

all drivers are working fine,i have nvidia 8500gt and soundblaster 5.1. both of them are working fine
the only yellow marks are against the bluetooth device drivers but they go away when i unplug the bluetooth device from the usb port...the desktop freezing problem still persists!

Have you checked the memory with MemTest? MemTest: RAM reliability tester for Windows
Check each stick individually.

I had this problem and it turned out to be the video card - even though the video card checked out and was reported doing fine in the device manager. Have you tried booting in the safe mode? If so does it freeze? I finally did a slective boot and all went well until the video drivers loaded. And I tried various video drivers from the Nvidia website.

The advice above is spot on; do a thorough memory test to rule out a bad memory stick.

i have intel onboard temperature sensors...no heating issues either
