Desktop shortcut question

If I open any shortcut from a desktop icon the desktop icon remains highlighted even when I have exited the program or website. Can anyone please advise why this is happening?
Not serious more annoying.

Hmm, that does not happen to me. How are your shortcuts configured, how many clicks to open? Maybe you're making one click too many? Also, check how the double-click is configured, maybe the time allowed is not convenient for you.

Doesnt make any difference however many clicks it takes. Even if I open anything with a right click it still remains highlighted when closed.
