My USB ports appear to be selective in what they will allow to communicate with the computer. This is not a hub but direct connections to the motherboard.

My BlackBerry, iPhone and APC Back-Ups have trouble communicating via the USB ports but everything else works great.

I have plugged the following items into my USB port at one time or another with no problems:
- HP printer
- Canon Camera
- Kodak camera
- Kodak printer
- Logitech keyboard and mouse
- Microsoft keyboard and mouse
- Sentinel software key
- Nextar external hard drive,
- Motorola cell phones
- iPod
- many other items

My 64 bit Vista laptop doesn't have this problem only my desktop computer.

I am really desperate for help with this problem.

Thanks

Ksean, welcome to the forums

Do you get the familiar USB connection sound when you plug in one of those equipment, or not even that? In other words, do you get an actual connection and then the device can't communicate or they are not even recognized by the computer?

Thanks for the input but apparently it was a computer BIOS issue, so once I flashed my 9 month old BIOS with a 2 month old BIOS everything is working great.
