Desperately seeking Win7 x64 driver for a YMF724 soundcard

Hi,


I'm looking for Win7 x64 drivers for an Xwave-192 soundcard that has a Yamaha YMF724 chipset. I need these drivers because I want to use the MIDI ports from it.

I followed the moderator's steps with both WDM and non-WDM drivers offered by Yamaha for WinXP, but neither of them worked.

Someone has posted some Win7 drivers on rapidshare, but I'm paranoid when it comes to untrusted software and it doesn't specify anything about it being x64 compatible.

You may wish to look at this thread. Its not looking too good for your card. Perhaps its time to replace it.

I know you tried XP drivers. There are 6 XP drivers in the MS archive at the link above.

Some may be ones you already tried.
Maybe one of them will work in compatability mode. All I can find.
Worth a shot.

Thank you for your support.
Unfortunately, updating driver from device manager and selecting the root folder containing those 5 drivers, did not work. It reported that it didn't find anything.

Think I can safely say that 64 bit drivers for that sound card do not exist. Just had a look at the INF for the XP driver from that Yamaha link you posted and it is dated from 2001, which says that card is no longer (and hasn't for a very long time) received any support.

At best that XP driver might install in 32 bit Windows 7, but it will not install in 64 bit.

This is one of those that if you want to continue using the card you're either going to have to install XP or try it in 32 bit Windows 7. A better option might be to get a card that actually has Windows 7 support.

You didn't find anything. What you found is the same 32 bit driver from 2001 that I mentioned above. All that is is the same driver that someone has gone and labeled as being for Windows 7. And yes I downloaded it and had a lok at the INF,
