I'm wondering if there's a sure-fire way to determine whether the underlying hardware running Windows 7 is of the UEFI or BIOS variety. I could research my particular laptop / hardware but I would like a reliable way of determining this quickly within windows for whatever hardware I'm dealing with. I was looking at this which shows several ways which people think you can find out, but I've found that they give me conflicting results. Any suggestions?

What does setupact.log say?

It says BIOS on my laptop ( HP Probook 4540s ). My desktop doesn't have a setupact.log in its panther folder ( intel DB75EN ). On the desktop MSINFO32 gives a BIOS version and says nothing about a UEFI so I'm assuming it's a BIOS.
