It would seem I have a problem with my device manager. It does not like to update alot of the things listed stating "the system cannot find the file specified. It's done that with mp3 players, mice, dvd cd-roms, monitors and other devices. However with some select few it will say already up to date.

How do I get my device manager to be able to actually update?

The only reason I even noticed this is because a couple of mtp players wouldn't recognize so I would try to update and it would say mtp usb device or usb massive storage device "system cannot find the file specified"

After that I tried updating various things in the device manager most of them saying the same thing about not finding the specified file

I would be eternally grateful if someone could help me resolve this

Use Driver Genius Professional

To update your drivers use Driver Genius Professional, it is best to update your drivers, one problem is that it is paid software and would only update if it is registered. In that case you can use Driver Genius Professional to know which of your drivers need updates and google them or use this site to locate them manually.

1) How exactly are you going about it? Follow this tutorial.

As for file not being found, its either because you dont have the right driver files or you're pointing to the wrong location.

2) I'm not a fan of Driver genius and similar software. On many occasions it has wanted me to download a driver which is already installed or download an older driver. Best way to update drivers is to visit the motherboard manufacturer's website or the device manufacturer's website, locate the download page for your model, then download and install updated versions. For intel drivers, intel's download page is also a resource.
