I have a Port conflict between my HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH22NS50 ATA Device and Windows Live Messenger (Build 14.0.8089.726). Running Windows 7 Home Premium.

When I try running Windows Live Messenger it brings up a Windows error saying it can't find a disc in the drive and I can't stop the message coming up when I click any of the options until I close messenger and it brings up the software error bit. I went to the Device manager and did a test to make sure it was the disk drive, and lo and behold when I disable the device Messenger runs fine even when I re-enable the drive again while msn is running. But as soon as I close down msn and try running it with the drive enabled it brings the error again.

The Windows Firewall Incoming Port exceptions for Windlows Live Messenger (program listed in in program files) is listed as running on Any port, but the SSDP-In is 1900, and the UPnP-In is 2869. Not sure where to find out what Port the DVD Drive is using.

Can anyone help?

Just a shot in the dark, but do you have a different slot to connect the drive to the motherboard? I don't know about a port conflict, but sometimes this can resolve an IRQ issue.

Hi, I'd rather leave that as a last resort if I can. Is there any other way to change it?
