Devices and Printers will not Open

Dell Lap Top, XPS with Windows 7 Ultimate. When I click Start, Devices and Printers, the panel opens as it should in Control Panel ^ Hardware and Sound ^ Devices and Printers but it just sits there and does nothing with the little circle spinning that shows that it is busy. It will just sit there all day doing nothing. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Joel Wagnon
