Hey guys I am really trying to understand how this windows backup works and I'd love to use this as opposed to another 3rd party software.

So I did the backup and saved it on network drive on another PC. Chose the folder and now there are 2 folders in the directory I chose during backing up last week.

One folder: TRAVIS-SEVEN ... which is the name of the computer
This folder contains mediaID.bin a desktop.ini file and another folder called Backup Set 2010-06-30 222754

Inside this folder is another folder with same name and it contains a bunch of zip files totally 74.4GB

Second Folder: WindowsImageBackup
This folder contains another folder called Travis-Seven
That folder contains folder called Backup 2010-07-01 022800
This folder contains a vhd file totally 192GB

I did the backup of just my C:\ drive which is where my 7 installation is. That drive is 224GB large, of which 191GB are used.

The real problem is my computer says nothing was backed up which clearly it is evident that something was backed up...

Thanks so much for any help.

Travis

? What method do you use to determine this? Have you tried starting the restore process and seeing if you can navigate to the backup location (you can always cancel at that point)?

Same issue regardless if full or incremental - last backup: never

Yes - I have done restores and deleted backups for full backups to make space, doing so left three backups behind.

You are abou the 50th "victim" of Win7 imaging I have seen. If you like challenges, you might want to stick with it. But if you want relaible results, you may want to consider an imaging program that works all the time.
