I tried your zip file and it did not work.
I.e., past (incorrect) file associations that I do not want still show up.
I have a .jad and .jad file that I don't want to be associated with *any* program...

I have no idea what ZIP file you are referring to, but the link below will tell you more about what the .jad file extension is for.

If you still wanted to unassociation the .jad file extension, then downloading and merging the REG file below and restarting the computer afterwards will do so.

clarification

Sorry, I meant your reg file that is downloaded as a zip.
I ran that, didn't fix the association.
I have also tried manually editing the registry, but didn't work because (maybe) regedit won't let me change the default value for Internet Explorer.
Yes, I know what .jad and .jar files are. The problem is that I mistakenly (stupidly) opened one of each with IE, and the "always open with this program" box was checked.
It seems that I change change associations for everything *except* IE.
You see, now even when I use a program like this An Utility to Unassociate File Types in Windows 7 and Vista it doesn't even show the .jad and .jar files at all -- they appear to be UNassociated with any program. But when I look at the .jad and .jar files on my computer, they are clearly associated with IE. Yes, I could (maybe) change the association to another program, but I don't want them associated at all.

Did you try the REG file above for JAD and the one below for JAR? Be sure to restart the computer afterwards.
