Hi all,

Just got my brand new Sager laptop and I am installing 7 ultimate, well a reinstall would be more accurate since I don't trust the manufacturer's settings.

Anyway I do have 3 drives, 2 of them are mirrored and 1 single.

Now for the life of me I cannot be 100% sure if the C: is the mirror or is it the single. I've checked and cross-referenced with all the tools I have (BIOS, Intel Matrix software and plain old disk management) but I still can't be 100% sure.

Anyone knows the trick?

Thanks,

Phil

In the BIOS or HDTune (or similar) you will have a # for each drive. That should tell you.

Also, are they partitioned exactly the same? If not, you should be able to tell the difference in disk management.

Are you talking about a RAID array? I don't quite understand the question.

Yes I have two drive setup as raid 1 and a single drive, I want to reinstall 7 on the single drive, the mirror array will be used for data.

Now the array is called "Volume 0" in the Intel Matrix storage manager but everywhere else it is either disk 0 and disk 1.

This of course doesn't tell me which drive is the array, which is what I need to know

Thanks Nate

The size of the drives should tell you. The array should be a different size than the other drive.

There are probably easier ways, but HDTune will show separate distinct #s after the model. That should tell you as well. The mirror may not even have a #. You could find out and write them down. I had to do the same thing with my 3 hard drives.

When you go to install, the setup program will also give you the size. That would be a good way to tell also.
