Solved Digital Clock on Taskbar loses time

The digital clock on my taskbar loses exactly two hours about one time each month. I live in Texas,and I wonder if somehow it is synching with clocks in California. I have an Acer Windows 7 laptop about 5 years old and this is a recent problem.

The usual cause of this problem, is the CMOS battery. I would change it.
How to replace the CMOS battery.

1)Why does it always lose exactly two hours?
2)If I dont change the CMOS battery, what is the worst that can happen? Will the computer not boot up?

When the CMOS is getting weak, it affects the clock in many possible ways. The bad battery is the first place to look with time problems, but might not be the actual cause.

Worst case scenario, you cannot boot. I do not know if it can affect memory.

Have you got your location set correctly on your computer. You say it loses exactly 2 at regular intervals. It could be the CMOS battery but incorrect location would be more likely.
