I recently bought a Win 7 computer and am very happy with the obvious improvements. However, I miss the digital camera upload feature I had in XP. Is there any software available that can provide the following features. 1) you can select which pictures to upload; 2) You can create a folder; 3) You can selectively erase photos that you have uploaded; Any suggestions would be appreciated.

if you have a sd card reader just plug the memory card into the slot, you can copy photos, delete from the card using explorer.
i would copy and not cut that way if there is a corruption you still have the original on the sd card. once you have made the copies successfully then you can delete the originals to free up space,its a hell of a lot easier than using the camera software or a third party software.

That's the process I use now. I will have several subjects on the card and would like to upload them to different folders. I know I can use Explorer and then move them later but it would be more convenient to do that initially.

As I see it, you've got two choices.

1) Upload all the images to Windows Explorer, and then move them to their appropriate folder.

2) Group the various images on your camera card, and then upload each group to their respective folder on your computer.

I don't know of any method that will let you upload to different folders on your computer simultaneously, but if any one does I'm sure they'll be along shortly.

I'm sorry you don't have a recommendation. When I had XP for several years, there was an app that came up when I plugged in the card that showed thumbnails of all the photos on the card and you could select which ones you wanted to downlaod and even specify a folder to download them to and it would create the folder. You could also specify whether or not you wanted to delete the pictures after uploading. It was a nifty little program. I wish there was one I could download and use.

You could always try Windows Photo Gallery that is free with Windows Live Essentials, but honestly, there's no easier or more simple way than cutting/copying and pasting. You also waste some of your camera battery by not using a card reader.

Maybe try Faststone Image viewer might help, there's quite allot of things you can do with it and it's free Just tell your pc to open your photos with it when you insert the card :)

To Barman58 and poorman UK;

I've downloaded both of your recommendations as well as Windows Live. I'll try all three and see which one really works for me. Thank you very much. I really appreciate the response.
