Dilemma... sense or pride?

So here I am with two shiny boxes in front of me..

W7 Home premium and W7 Professional.

Now, I dont have a home network and have no need for running anything in XP.

I do backup everyweek, and the computer is a tower so effectively I'll never go in location with it..

Common sense says install HP

Pride says go for Pro!

If I sell i'll get a good price for either i'm sure (brought on intro promo) and if I don't i'll have a spare licence which I suppose can never be a bad thing.

Faced with this dilemma what would you guys do?

definitely Pro in my case. HP is missing too many advanced features I use.

All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality.
Could you sell both and get Ultimate?

Depends on the current deal. If you are buying at the "normal" prices, go for HP and if you find that you really need something that only Professional can offer, do an Anytime Upgrade. There is no reinstallation. Just run the process, pay the upgrade fee and the process unlocks the Professional features.

Heck you could decide to add the home network next year and then perform the upgrade.

I'm running HP, so far i have across the following problems, all fixed.

No remote desktop, so I installed VNC (FREE).
No XP Mode, so I installed Sun Virtual Box (FREE).

And that's that.

For me it includes having the mindset of having something supperior. That said i hope i had 4Gb so i can upgrade to 64bit.:cry:

There's also a (free) hack to turn on remote desktop in Home Premium. You can find a link to it over on TGB.

I think people put too much into the name of the product. Rather than spend $100 or more on something that likely won't be used (ability to join domain, RDP, language packs and Bitlocker), use that $100 on something like RAM or a new hard drive or a new optical drive or something that will actually make your computing experience superior.
