Dilemma, stick with SD wA/V or switch to Bitdefender Total Security

Dilemma, stick or switch:confused:

I have had no real or major problems or infections using paid subscription of PC Tools Spyware Doctor with A/V, other than very hit and miss support, however its ratings seem to be dropping against most other security programs and my SD renewal is approaching. BitDefender seems to be the must have program of the moment scoring highly in the majority of areas.

I am sure there will be those here who can offer an opinion from a user/practical point of view, even better if you have switched from SD to BD recently.

BD is around twice the price but if it offers enhanced security may well be worth the extra...............? Difficult/irrelevant to put a price on security though.

I use Norton Internet Security 2012. It does everything you could possibly want a protection software to do. I sometimes go to a bad site mistakenly and pick up a worm, a trojan, etc. The Norton catches it and deletes it. If for some reason it can not. You click on the fix and another tool can be downloaded from Norton to fix the specialized infection. Finally, if all else fails call Norton support. They will take remote control of your computer and fix it for you. The support is great! They answer the phone pretty fast as well, so you don't have to worry about waiting.

Now if it's a freeware alternative your looking for, Avast or Avira are good.
avast! Free Antivirus - Free Download - Tucows Downloads
Avira Free Antivirus - Download.com
Now for a freeware Firewall
Download Comodo Firewall 5.10.228257.2253 Free - Firewall with prevention-based protection - Softpedia
If you use this firewall, make sure to disable Windows Firewall, or use Windows Firewall instead.
Lots of choices! If you have further questions, I or another BP member will be more than glad to assist you.
Bye now!

I use Norton because it's free with Comcast. I don't notice must difference with the computers performance when Norton is installed. It does take a little longer to start, but only a few more seconds. Not a big deal, by my standards. 374 views, huh. That's a lot of lookers. Don't worry once we make some comments, some heavy weights will come in and drop some stuff on us that will make our heads spin! LOL With some of the other antivirus programs, I've tested. I've found, they are more apt to conflict with other programs. And don't seem to protect as well. But, that's only been my experience, not written in stone. Don't get me started about reviews. Ever heard of a smake oil salesman. I do my own testing, thank you. A lot of that stuff out there is freeware, or shareware. So, why pay for anything.
