Go To an Elevated Command Prompt


Elevated command prompt = Run CMD.EXE as administrator
WIN | type CMD.EXE | do not hit Enter |
CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER keycombo| YES

WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.

go to an elevated command prompt and enter:
wmic recoveros get /all /format:list > %userprofile%\desktop\dmpinfo.txt

that will put a file called dmpinfo.txt on your desktop.

Attach that file to your next post.

Under Write debugging information, select Small memory dump |
in the Small dump directory: box, enter %SystemRoot%\Minidump | OK

If Overwrite any existing file is checked, then:
Ø Under Write debugging information, select Kernel memory dump
Ø Uncheck Overwrite any existing file
Ø Under Write debugging information, select Small memory dump
Ø OK button
If you get a crazy message from Win 7 about your paging file being too small, then just ignore the message since we have already made sure that the paging file is set to be managed by Win 7.

ENABLE THE WINDOWS ERROR REPORTING SERVICE
WIN key | type SERVICES.MSC | ENTER |
Scroll down to Windows Error Reporting Service |
Rt-clk on Windows Error Reporting Service | Properties |
General tab | for Startup type, choose Automatic |
In Service status, Start button (unless grayed out) | OK


ASSURE THAT CCLEANER IS NOT DELETING DUMPS
CCLEANER | Cleaner icon | Windows tab | System category |
Uncheck Memory Dumps
· WINDOWS ERROR REPORTING SERVICE must NOT be disabled!
· WIN | Services.msc | Enter
· Under Name, locate Windows Error Reporting Service
· If Status is not Started, then
Right-click on Windows Error Reporting Service |choose START
· If Startup Type is not Automatic, then
Right-click on Windows Error Reporting Service |
choose Properties | General tab |
set Startup type to Automatic
· Close Services.msc (I like to use ALT + F4)

After a crash, the minidump file will be in %SystemRoot%\Minidump
%SystemRoot% is generally C:\Windows

K, did all that. Will the Dmp file be there aswell if I hardreset the computer after the crash?

I think I know why it didn't work this time, normally everything isn't reacting anymore but this time, I was still able to speak to my Buds in teamspeak so it is more like a hang, gonna try to crash it now lol.

Update: At the last two times it was a bit different: I was still able to hear and talk in Teamspeak AND instead of some random colored pixels I now see just one colour and no pixel. But via the search function I searched for the Minidump folder and found these 3 files from the last days: Oh lol when I try to Upload them I get: You don't have permission to open this file. Contact the file owner or an administrator to obtain permission. Aswell i got to say that the Minidump folder wasnt in %systemroot% I just found it because I searched for it.

That indicates that if you go to an elevated command prompt you should find a c:\windows\minidump.

in the PROGRAMS list, right-click on CMD.EXE |
choose "Run as administrator" |
Click on the YES button (if such appears)

Did you know that you can copy text from a cmd shell screen to the clipboard?

I really should have said:
DIR | Clip

that | Clip will put the output of the command line to the clipboard.

You can then use good ol' CTRL + V to paste from the clipboard into your post.

Since you do have some dump files, although the last one was three days ago, then I suggest you start a thread in the BSOD and Crashes forum of SevenForums. Imperative is to follow the instructions there about how to post. The info is at the top when you go to the forum.
