i was working on permissions, ownership, and auditing. i was wondering, a lot of files deny access regardless of whether
i assume ownership, or so for my group. are those denials logged somewhere so I can delve into the purpose of those files
and reason they are locked? too many to list from system files to individual program files.

changing these setting was tricky too because i belong to a group on the system, that i denied access, while granting myself access. i wound up with denied access. is there a way to fix this security loophole?

yep - that is what the warning says will happen:

What are you attempting to achieve by changing the file permissions?

I, adnmance, was trying to restrict trustedinstaller.exe's access to files because of it's heavy memory footprint and i was afraid that it's a remotely unsafe program. i need to look more into it in the kb articles though.

also, i was just playing around with admin stuff. finding it out as i go along. i entered auditing. change the permissios so that admin owned it, and could do as necessary, and since trustedinstaller is a system entity, and i can't make the system prompt me when it beings making changes, i could get access denied and if it was that serious, modify the settings for the moment.

it was a disaster though, i had to reload. then i upgraded to 8, had the app opening problem unrelated to resolution got angry, downgraded to 7. then i got a keylogger that killed my pc lol.....i had to reload 6 times in a row so i guess this was bad karma.

but that was the point of modifying settings.

trustedinstaller has lot to do with the system. and 1 reason that prompt you access denied is maybe their are application currently running that is associated with the system

hmm, i hadn't thought of that at all. unlike deletion, there is no warning; program is currently open in windows explorer or what have you. would their being in use absolutely result in a denial of access when just trying to view files?
