Hi,
I have directories like "a85c9eb53ab66e0034" or "de23a7d6618087e5efd793650af6ed" which are all the time created on my data partition. Inside is a file called mrt.exe which after a quick googeling seems to belong Windows.

How can I stop those annoying directories appearing on my data partition ?

cheers,
Tex

Those are from Windows Updates. If they really bother you, hide system files. I believe they will always be created, usually temporarily, on the drive with the largest amount of free space.

By the way, mrt.exe is from the Malicious Software Removal Tool...a common Windows Update file.

well my C: has more space as the data partition.

If they are temporary, why I cannot delete them ?

Have you restarted after applying the updates?

Hi,
this is getting annoying. I reinstalled windows 7 but those 3 folders are still on my data disk and I cannot delete them ! How can I get rid of those ? I dont want Windows to write anything on my data disk.

The only solution I see is to boot to live Linux and delete them from there. But is windows really unable to do this ?? fail ...

This is unusual! But you should be able to delete them after you take ownership of the folders and assign full rights to yourself...
