I have one game (Kyodai Mah Jongg) that normally runs fine, but on occassion, it will freeze not only itself but the OS, and when this happens, it is always at the same point...intializing DirectX. The only alternative is a forced restart of the OS, which is something that I would like to avoid. With the history that I've had with the game in XP, where this never happened, and the fact that this is not a frequent problem in W7, I tend to think that it is not the game itself causing the problem.
Dxdiag doesn't show any problems, except that it has a note about a Creative audio driver that isn't signed, but that is nothing new. Dxdiag lacks the manual testing features in W7 that it had in XP, so there isn't much more that I can do with it. Is there a way to diagnose and fix the problem, or do I have to live with it and keep my fingers cross that it doesn't foul something up on a restart?
