DirectX won't install

Hello, I just bought this new laptop a week ago and i've been trying to set up a few things but they keep telling me to update DirectX. So when ever I try it comes up with the error;

Internal error occured
Please refer to the DXError.log and DirectX.log in your Windows folder to determine the problem.

And this is what was in the DXError.log;

The specs on the laptop are, if that even helps, Intel Core i5 520M 2.40Ghz, 4 GB Ram, Nvidia Gefore GT 230M 1GB and ofcourse Windows 7.

Here is one method you can try.





Search for the latest version of DirectX on Microsoft's site.
  1. Click the link in the search results named DirectX End-User Runtime.
  2. Note: Typically, the DirectX End-User Runtime link will be your best option since it only installs the DirectX files you are missing. Some users prefer to download and install the entire DirectX package by choosing the DirectX Redist link.
  3. Note: The DirectX SDK download option is not recommended.
  4. Complete the DirectX installation by following any directions from Microsoft's website or from the DirectX installation program.
  5. Note: The same DirectX download applies to all Windows operating systems - Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, etc. Whatever files are missing - be them DirectX 11, DirectX 10, DirectX 9, etc. - will be replaced as necessary.
  6. Restart your computer, even if you're not prompted to do so.
  7. After restarting your computer, test to see if updating to the latest version of DirectX corrected the problem you were having.

The DirectX End-User Runtime is what's giving me that error, I've downloaded 3 or 4 different versions of it and the same thing always happens.

Download redistributable version on smarteyeball's post, it is a problem with web updater reported by a few people including myself :p

Redistributable version install was successful. ;)
