Disable automatic search start (as you type) ?

Hello,

I'm talking about search function by using windows explorer's search box.
By default search in windows explorer begins as you type - it doesn't wait you to finish typing.
I hate that and I want to begin search only when I want that (when finished typing the whole string) - by pushing search lens button on the right for example.

Possible to do that ?

Odd, that is one of the ways it speeds things up, it by starting the search while you are figuring out what terms to add.

Then go here if you need help opening the local group policy editor (only possible in Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise versions of Windows 7.)

That article is awesome. Some of it is straightforward, but it's got some good nuggets in there! I use this one all the time:

20. Get Snippy. The snipping tool has also been around in various incarnations but it's even easier to use in Windows 7. Launch the tool, then drag and drop any part of your screen. The tool will snip the selection. You can save it as a graphic file or annotate with basic drawing tools. Teach your end users how to use this tool so they can grab the snapshots of their problems and send them to the help desk. Or create your own library of visual notes.

I don't know why Viliusm didn't comment you WalkerA Winteam. Because I'm in the same predicament as he is in and see that this wasn't the answer he was looking for.
You guide us to disable search history and the search history while typing function.

Alas this was not what we wanted, we seek to disable auto search, so that we physically need to hit enter or search in order to start the search function.
In my case this is because in Citrix and RDP connections; it uses alot of resources and sometimes crashes explorer due to too much data to search in between all the different search words that was typed as the user came to the end word that was originally the only search term the user wanted to search based on.

Autosearch is actually making file searches longer. It's OK to auto search WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR DATA ON RAM. Sheesh, it's like the Windows 7 Explorer was programmed by a high-school student trying to impress his Computer Science teacher with this "Search as you type" feature. "Oooohhh!" Well asshat, we know better and hard drive read speed is atrocious when you have several programs reading and writing at the same time! What good is 4 CPU cores and 8 GB of RAM when your lame programming logic clogs up precious hard drive cycles? Shit, this is one of those times when MS is trying to be hip, trying to be like those Apple manure. Well, I for one would like shout out at MS to stop imitating manure that is Apple and start real, ideal computing.
