disable firewall?

hey, if i install say kaspersky anti-virus (or any paid for anti-virus programs) do i then have to disable windows 7 firewall? thanks

I have never installed Kaspersky before so do not know if it automatically disables Windows Firewall.

After, if you like you can open services.msc, locate Windows Defender, stop and disable it.

If you new security program comes with a firewall it will disable the Windows 7 firewall. But you should also check to make sure. You can use the method that Infinite has posted.

Anti-Viruses and Firewalls have different functions. A Firewall should not be shut down just because an Anti-Virus has been installed.

Windows Firewall should only be shut if another third-party Firewall like say Comodo has been installed. Most likely the third-party Firewall will itself shut down the Windows Firewall during its installation.

Go into the settings of Kaspersky, is there anything about Firewall?
