Context Menu - Enable or Disable - Vista Forums

or

Disable Right Click in Windows Vista/XP | Windows Vista Customization | Windows Tools, Help & Guides

Hope it works. Vista works like win 7.

If you search around, you will find pages like this How to Disable Right Click in Windows XP.

Which is doing the following,,,

This is the corect way for this policy in Windows 7.

Click Start
In the bottom box type "edit group policy" (wihtout quotes)
Click on the listing "Edit Group Policy" , do not hit enter
User Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Windows Explorer

In the right pane find "Remove Windows Explorer's default context menu"
Double Click and check Enabled and hit OK

This will disable the context menu, stuff in Explorer, but probably won't fully disable the right click function all together. Both methods are refering to disabling the Right Click function on the Desktop and Windows Explorer, but not in individual applications.

I know this is not what you are looking for, but wanted to explain this.
The first link I posted is doing the same thing, only through the registry directly, which it should not be done that way for this particualr setting in Windows 7.

To fully disable the right click function...... would probably depend on the software for your Mouse. You would need to install that and check it's options to see if it is there.

I have searched around and can't find anything on stopping it completely for all applications.

You must have Windows 7 Ultimate or Professional to have access to the Group Policy Editor.

ohh, it says Home premium.

So I can't do anything about it?... And I mean is not as if I can't right click in school you know, when they lock it for security purposes -- Is just that I can't seem to right click the desktop icons, and when I do the Windows Explorer program needs to close.

So the right click STARTS the function, it beings to load, but I end up having to close the program, and it comes and goes. Happened out of nowhere, in the middle of me using the computer a few days ago.

No idea why.
