This has been annoying me to death since i first installed windows 7

Next to the start button, I have created a custom bar with a lot of shortcuts to open programs. But every time i click on a shortcut it gives me a security warning and ask me if i really want to open the file. I have to click on the "open" button every time.

How can i disable it?

I already totally disabled UAC both in the configuration panel and in regedit

Why did you create another bar, aren`t the taskbar and start menu enough for you ? I would just do away with whatever you installed.:D

Does this "Open" warning have a Always ask before opening this file box to uncheck?

anarchoi,

See if the following helps...

Delete a shortcut from the Taskbar

Find the program (related to the shortcut) and drag it to the Desktop, pressing the Ctrl key.

Now, while pressing the Shift key, drag the icon from the Desktop to your shortcuts area on the Taskbar.

Click the shortcut on the Taskbar and see if it opens without the warning.

If it works, do the same for other shortcuts.

I had this problem with shortcut links added to Favorites in Internet Explorer. I solved it with a Local Group Policy tweak. Here are the steps:

  1. run gpedit.msc
  2. navigate to Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Attachment Manager
  3. Enable "Inclusion list for moderate risk file types"
  4. add .lnk to the Options: list
FWIW, my Options: list is actually ".exe;.pdf;.reg;.msi;.lnk" to squelch warnings when trying to run those files as well. This tweak does not impose a security risk in my setting because users of the system do not access files from untrusted sources.
