Disabled Wireless Adapter

Help, I did a stupid thing. My laptop has Windows 7 64bit installed with intel wireless adapter. My internet connection dropped to below 50 and I'm on a Wireless N system. In the past when I ran Windows XP, I would just go and disable the wireless adapter and then enable it right away and I would get a good connection. I did that today on my Windows 7 adapter and now I cannot reconnect with the adapter. The device manager shows that it is enabled but when I go to the network connection and click on to connect, a window comes up as says not connected. How do I go about getting that adapter enabled? I've also disabled the LAN adapter again because of my dealings with XP. I want to enable that also. I just cannot find a place to enable my wireless or LAN adapters. Does anybody know where to go to enable these adapters? Thank you for your time and help.

Thank you chev65. Between the time I posted and the time you posted, I did find where to disable/enable the adapter just as your listed tutorial pointed out. However, this did not work. The adapter was enabled but I couldn't get a connection. It kept showing connection not available. Just doing a little snooping around, I found something called Wireless Console 3. When I clicked on that an image showed up on my screen giving me two options. One option was for Bluetooth and the other option was for WLAN. When I clicked on WLAN, the laptop immediately connected to my wireless router and I was online. I have a lot to learn in Windows 7 and I guess maybe I shouldn't just do things without knowing the results although that is one way to learn. Thanks again for your help.

I just looked up the Wireless console 3 which is an Asus program by the way and is also the cause of your reconnection problem.

People have the same complaints at the Asus forum. They said that when they disabled the connection it won't re enable with the usual Windows controls. Same problem as you were having.

I didn't realize you were running that program or I would have come up with these results.

Man I hate third party programs.
Ok I'll mark as solved, thanks for reporting back in. ;)
