Disabling Services- Apply/OK/Reboot, or just OK/Reboot?

I recently upgraded (transferred) my HDD System/slave drives, to SSD's-
I deleted Consolidate in Task Scheduler/Reboot, and when I disabled Windows Defrag Apply/OK, a blue ball rolled around for quite awhile, and a Big HD flash when I closed Services/ Reboot.
Seems to be OK.

My question?- When disabling "Any" Services (normal maintenance), should I just click OK/Reboot, instead of Apply/OK/Reboot?

In my experience, choosing OK does the "Apply" function anyway, and usually closes the window. "Apply" does the application of the changes and does not close the window.

Either/or, it doesn't seem to matter which way you do it. Hope that helps.

The purpose of the Apply button is to perform the function of the OK button but without closing the dialog. This is sometimes useful. This applies to all dialogs with an Apply button, not just the Services dialog. This is specified in Microsoft's developer guidelines. I would consider any deviation from this behavior a serious bug which would almost certainly have been caught before the OS was released to the public.

If you disable a service just because you changed to disabled and closed the window it is still running until you reboot. Alternatively you can click on stop. That will stop the service without having to reboot.

I Googled-
Windows For Dummies (On disabling Services)-
"Apply" tries to disable Now, but if the Service is already loaded won't work (rolling Blue Ball, due to conflicts with files in use...).

They recommend "OK" only, and the Service will be disabled on reboot (Before System is Loaded).

I'd say MD guidelines, are superior to Dummies, but, that's my opinion.
