Is there a way i can disable the windows shell for certain users?
I have 1 user i want to have the shell and the other without it.
The only thing i want to get rid of is the UI. EX: taskbar, icons on desktop.

look up on google for windows 7 customizations. I've never heard of being able to do such a thing, but I doubt someone will know off hand where to direct you. your best bet is simply looking it up yourself

You might have posted this in the customization section where they might know a thing or two on this subject

If you'd like, you can click the exclamation mark on the upper right corner of your post and 'report' it, requesting it be moved there

Probably because...IT is system wide only?
Why are you wanting to do this?

Not doing it for performance. I got my reasons. Dont see why people always want a reason then dont help if they dont like the reason.

I'm not helping because I don't like the reason. I'm not helping because a solution there is not.

I think knowing the reason sometimes helps define the problem. Or it may help clarify what your intentions are.

You can't disable the shell but you can use it to "Hide" the task bar and even move it to the top where it's less likely to be found. You can also define (restrict) what appears in the task bar and what programs can be used.

Log in under the account you want to customize then right click on the task bar. Click Properties and apply your changes.

The "Log in" jogged my memory. There are some Registry entries that you can delete that will disable "NameSpace" but see if the the above works for you first. (Properties)

It's the simplest and safest way. :geek:

And, as I mentioned, there's more options than just hiding it.

You're better off using the Task Bar Properties. Windows has APIs to interact with programs that manage their own functions on the TB. Changing the Registry could cause other problems. Major problems! The process is more suited for single user stations anyway.

Log in under the account you want to customize then right click on the task bar. Click Properties and apply your changes.
Each user account can have their own customizations in this way (removing programs you don't want from the start menu and taskbar. To completely remove the taskbar for a single user account is a bit hard to do. You can choose either a limited or administrative account (if limited, you may be asked for administrator password when you remove certain programs from start menu). limited account (without administrative password) could be prevented from adding anything else to the start menu
