Disc burners won't stop spinning or finish burning after updating

Hello!

I recently had an issue with a BSOD and wound up updating my drivers. I updated my BIOS driver since it said it was old while I was doing that. Now, it seems I can't finish any disc burning jobs. I have two dvd burning drives on this PC and both of them just get stuck burning via Roxio software and never finish. The drive just spins and spins and never stops. The disc won't let me eject it. The only way for me to even get it to stop is to do a force restart on my PC. A regular restart locks up and won't work. I tried performing a system restore but the only restore point available won't work. It continually comes up with an error saying it can't be restored to that point. I am at my wits end! I need to burn discs and I have no idea how to get them working again problem-free! :(

This is so frustrating. Would reinstalling Windows fix this? Is that the only option?

Please help!

Welcome to the Forum.

Lets do the basic fist.
- Do a check disk. Open a CMD window as admin and type:
chkdsk c: /f
It will say that the disk is in use and if you want to schedule to next start = Yes
Reboot.

Once back to windows, open a CMD window as admin and type:
sfc /scannow

I ran these tests but am unsure of what to look for once they complete. The second one said there were no problems with the integrity of the volumes. The first one finished so fast that I couldn't see any of the info in the results. Hmmmmm

I ran a burn with this software and it was fine. It completed. However, I have been having intermittent luck with Roxio lately. It either works fine or does the spinning continually without stopping issue. It's just strange that it happened with both burners. I will run a few more burns to see if things are going a little better but I'm not sure why this spinning/stuck issue pops up now. Never had that happen before. It's pretty annoying! :(

You probably have a problematic (corrupted) Roxio.
Can you reinstall it?

I reinstalled it and have been burning fine but the issue just popped up again. Totally frozen spinning, drive. Ughhh! So frustrating. I have no idea what could be going on with it!
