I know how to disguise one browser for another by changing the User Agent. Is there a way of disguising Win7 as Win10 to anyone viewing a particular site? I work online and I'm not planning to move to 10, but eventually they'll try to force me. I already know that dual-boot is one workaround.

If I understand you correctly, I don't think there is a way to achieve this!

M$ have Windows 7 built-in [hardcoded] throughtout the OS, like in the registry and system files just for an example!

If you're asking about changing your apparent OS your browser sends to websites, it's the very same thing as disguising your browser. The user agent header also contains, in addition to browser type and version, your OS.
For example, mine says "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/71.0.3578.98 Safari/537.36 OPR/58.0.3135.132", which means "Opera 58 32 bits running on Win7 x64". Just change the user agent and the trick is done.

BTW, I seriously doubt any website uses the OS on the user agent for anything, not even Microsoft. At most, it's used to put a FUD banner asking to downgrade to Windows 10, but that's it. I'm not aware of a single website that breaks because of that.

FUD Banner? Why does it say "Apple Webkit" and "Safari" also?

I work for various survey companies online. I was still using Win XP a few years after updates stopped, and one of them said I had to upgrade to Win 7. I didn't mean the site broke, but I wasn't allowed to do that company's work. At that point I was forced to dump XP.

How would I pretend I had Win 10 and Chrome 77, rather than what I really have??

They know because you tell it though your user agent. In my example it says "(Windows NT 6.1; WOW64)", IE, Windows 7 x64 running a 32 bits browser. Just change that and you can simulate any OS, the website has no other way to possibly know.

It's sort of a convention to also put in the user agent to what rendering engines the browser is compatible with, that's where the the Apple, Safari and Chrome come from, apart from the real browser identity.

An example of a FUD banner MS shows is in their own website, browsing with Win7, they "nicely ask" to buy Win10 instead. And they know when your user agent says you're running Win7.

If I'm doing a survey at a website, they're not going to see my registry and system files.

Got it. Would "Windows NT 6.1..." become "Windows NT 10.1" or "NT 10?"

"Windows NT 6.1" refers to major version 6 and minor version 1 which was Windows 7. Vista was 6.0 and Windows 8 was 6.2. Windows 10 currently has a major version of 10 and a minor version of 0 giving "Windows NT 10.0"
