Disk boot failure, Insert system disk and press enter

I've been having this error even after reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7 on my desktop. I've done reformatting / reinstalling Windows 7 several times, yet the problem still occurs. I'm thinking of my HDD as being corrupted or messed up. The problem occurred after I accidentally hit the CPU when I was stretching my foot. The screen froze after that. Upon rebooting it, 'Disk boot failure, Insert system disk and press enter' occurs. After I entered the DVD installer of Windows 7, the screen just hangs. How can this be fixed? :huh:

hello..how many times you're already reinstall the OS??
i ever seems same issue on my office. the first is run well.but can't hold out until 3 days. so i tried reinstalled again and still got same issue. after that. i try to change the hdd. and is run well, cause hdd is have bad sectors and can't be kept the files anymore.

When you said you kicked the "CPU" did you actually mean the processor or something else?

There is indeed a problem with the HDD. T_T After undergoing diagnostic test with the hardware, the HDD was shown as the root cause of the problem. I can't seem to start the PC without having the need to insert the install disc for Windows 7. T_T Is there any way I could fix this HDD, like reformatting it to a factory setting? There really seems to be a bad sector in the HDD. T_T

No, I just accidentally hit the CPU case at its back. Not too hard that will cause it so much harm though.

I was able to reinstall Windows 7 without freezing the screen. But after shutting it down and turning it on, the same error occurred again. I got it running (but not fixed) by using the command prompt in the Windows 7 install disc and have it check for any errors at startup --- HDD was the root cause. T_T

I did moved the connection for the HDD to the other slots wondering the slot where it was inserted is failing on it.

The main root of the problem started when the PC won't boot. I placed the RAM to the other slot thinking the slot where it was placed is busted. The PC booted after moving the RAM stick to other slot. Then I decided to dual boot Windows 7 Ultimate with our old copy of Windows XP SP3. I was able to install both OS in different partitions. I used a 3rd party software to fix the boot manager for XP. XP is working just fine after, but 7, on the other hand, randomly freezes (probably due to problems with the registry). 7's boot can't be fixed after its last freeze so I decided to reformat the HDD to give way for a full install on Windows 7 Ultimate alone. Then I learned that Windows 7 has a 'Windows XP Mode' that would be run in a virtual box under Windows 7 itself. Everything was just fine when the PC hanged again. After several reformat-reinstall of OS attempts and a sudden little impact on the back of the PC, I've been having a 'disk boot failure error'.

I'll go check if there's any repair tool that will work on this HDD from the link you've provided.

I don't think there's any from the tools provided that will fix the problem. The Disc Wizard Setup for Seagate HDD only gives the option to create backup and image restore, create bootable media, manage image backups, and clone disc. Is there any software out there that will fix the bad sector of a HDD?

i think not..because the problem not cause by the software but cause by the physical HDD,
i suggest you to slave your hdd to the other PC and backup your data as much as you can (as you need) and then you can buy a new one hdd.
even what software can make it run. but that's cause by bad sector and is the physical of the hdd so difficult to fix it permanent.

Dude, test don't seem to be available whenever I attempt to do any kinds of testing with the HDD. It always shows 'Test Unavailable' to the Test Status on the interface of the software.

Update: I was able to run a short generic test with the HDD, and it passed the test. Long generic test failed -- probably caused by a bad sector in the HDD.

This time download Seagate Tools for DOS.

burn the downloaded .iso file to a CD. Simply click on the file and Win 7 will prompt you to insert a cd/dvd into the cd drive.

After successful completion of the burn,
put the cd into the cd drive and boot to the CD Drive.

Run the test.

Thanks dude, I already got it fixed though. I had it fixed at using the local disc error-checking. There were really bad sectors in the HDD.
