Solved Disk Cleanup Extended, what could go wrong

I have Disk Cleanuo Extended going and it's been what looks to hung up for quite a while with little or no disk activity showing.
You say don't exit but pretty soon I'll have shut down and assume a lockup occurred.


Will I have to redo MBR and all that?


Anyway I haven't messed with it so far.


Just checked again--- it's still stalled maybe 10 15 mins

I assume it ended or you turned off.

Better do a disk check
Open a CMD window as administrator and type:
chkdsk c: /f
It will say your disk is in use and if you want to schedule to next start = yes
Restart
Pay attention on the results, specially bad blocks, bad clusters, bad sectors etc

Cool, man, cool! I've used both the short and the long version of Windows 7's Disk Cleaner. I even use a portable version of ccleaner to delete browser cache files. Even though it has many many other checkboxes to check, I have it do one job and one job only.

Not done with the problem yet but I'm going to mark this solved for the following reason:


Disk Cleanup Tool Extended hung up


then regular ol' Win7 Disk cleanup tool also hung up.


Then I ran Crystal Disk Info. That said Good (not in the red) HD but hot at 51C. These old Hitachi's
all run hot-- I did not buy it new.


The HD boots up and does not hang.


I'm wondering if just a refresh of the Bootrec commands would do anything?


My bad I did not look carefully at chkdsk/f when I ran that -- and the final thing is chkdsk /f/r

also hung up really badly in phase 4 at 10% completion. I left it for hours. It moved slightly
but nothing that could called normal. I could look at Defrag for this disk but Defrags I have found can
cause problems.


It's not Pauls utility, it's something else

Did you let it finish check disk?
