Disk defrag error..wont let me run it.

Hi, when i try to run my disk defrag it says "Disk defragmenter cannnot start because the task scheduler service is not running. Start the task scheduler service and try again" I tried to open the task scheduler but that isnt working. When i open the task scheduler it says "The remote computer is not found." If anyone knows what i can do i would appreciate it..thanks!

Type services.msc in the search box, then click the link it gives you.

Go down through thru' the list until you get to Task Scheduler, and ensure it's set to automatic start, and then start the service up.

That will cure your issue.

Make also sure Event Viewer is working.Many times malfunctioning Task Scheduler is caused not working Event Viewer

Start>>Search>>eventvwr.msc

If it work navigate to Application and Sestem sections and find error messages which address to Task Scheduler and post here

If event viewer is not working too in Services.msc find Windows Event Log and make sure it's set to automatic start and it working
