Disk failure

Hi everybody,

anyone had the same problem?

Disk is after format.
How can I fix it? I think the disk is good, maybe it is a software problem!? I bought a new one and this one I used earlier and I never had a problem with this "bad" disk.

SORRY for my english, I am from Slovakia.

Please somebady help me.

I had the same issue with my old laptop and Vista. It's unfortunately a hardware fault as after a few months my laptop hard drive failed completely. I would advise on buying a new hard disk, it will remain functional but I would advise backing up anything you need just in case.

To verify the problem...

There is a small FREE utility at this website that you can use to verify if your hard drive is failing:

PassMark DiskCheckup - SMART hard drive monitoring utility

I've run it this morning on Windows 7 so it does work. (and I used it on Windows XP successfully to evaluate a drive that was doomed)

Hard drives older than 3 years old seem to have the greatest chance of developing problems especially if they are in boxes that get moved around a lot when the drive is spinning up or writing data.

You might be able to use SpinRite to repair the drive but for the most part it is cheaper and wiser to backup your data and get a brand new shiny one.
