So, about 2 weeks or so ago my PC was working perfect, no issues whatsoever. Then about 2 - 3 days after I went on my PC and things just froze up, I couldn't shut down properly because it was just stuck froze. So I shut down using the button, but when I turned it back on I got "Disk Read Error Occurred". So I left my PC off for a while and it worked again after a few restarts, but it seems to keep coming back, my PC also sometimes freezes up.

Would appreciate any help, thank you.

It's been doing this for weeks.

Hi,

That appears to be a problem with your hard disk.

Do the following:

1. Click Start
orb.png

2. In the search box, type cmd
3. In the list that appears, right-click on cmd.exe and choose Run as administrator
4. In the command window that opens, type chkdsk /R and hit enter.

You will be prompted whether you wish to schedule and disk check at next startup, choose YES, then reboot your PC. Make a note of the chkdsk that occurs at boot and post the details back here.

Install and run CrystalDiskInfo - take a screencapture image of what the program reports for your C: and post it here.

Regards,
Golden

Welcome to Seven Forums PrivacyRisk. There are a few things that can cause that error, but #1 on the list would be a failing Hard Drive. You can download this portable version of CrystalDiskInfo. Just open the program and see what the Health Status is.

CrystalDiskInfo Portable | PortableApps.com - Portable software for USB, portable and cloud drives

The hard drive could be failing. There could be bad sectors which mich be able to be corrected. there could be a corrupt MBR (Master Boot Record). Let's start with the SMART reading. A Guy
