Solved Disk Shrinking problem. Cannot access to Virtual Disk Service

I was in Disk Management and was shrinking my disk C: where Windows 7 is located, to make room for another operating system. The window seemed as if it crashed so I closed it. It was a mistake. I opened it back up and now it's stuck at "Connecting to Virtual Disk Service". Partitions don't show up.

I can't dare to shut down the PC because I'm scared that it will never open because I have played with its consistency by stopping a partitioning process. I can't run CHKDSK because Windows is running on it.

Do you think the testdisk command of Linux Terminal will work? I once recreated partition tables flawlessly with it.

And how deep poop am I in, right now? The PC is working but I just can't guarantee the next boot.

Best regards.

UPDATE: I downloaded Partition Wizard and everything seems ok in there. Looks as if it was never partitioned at all. There's no unallocated space unlike what I thought.

I just solved it by restarting the PC and scheduling a checkdisk. Just another question: Is it ok to partition the "System, Boot" partition which is my C drive, or it will just cause problems and I'm better of leaving it that way?

no problem if it done properly, use the software i recommended earlier, its perfect. make your changes and then restart your system , it takes time to perform the partitioning.
feel free to ask, if there is any other questions

A quick solution is to defrag your disk. Look for Disk Defragmenter in Start Search Box. Works out for slow PC's that crash for no apparent reason.
