Disk streaming. Or not.

Hey all. Maybe someone here knows of which I speak.

Some time back (late 90's perhaps?) a change was made to the way HDDs handle data. It was a performance improvement, and in theory, made computing faster. I thought this new technology was called Disk Streaming. A google search of stream from hard disk, hard disk streaming, and similar terms is not producing anything of value, leading me to believe that I either have the terminology incorrect, or have absolutely no clue what the hell I am talking about. :zip:

I would like to think it's not the latter... does anyone know what it is that I am on about?

Thanks in advance.
