In using Diskpart for the first time (in a win 7 clean install) I found the "clean all" command zeroed sectors for the entire drive, i.e. all partitions.

I'm getting ready to Install Win 7 on my laptop. I would like to clean ONLY Drive C: and preserve all the remaining partitions.

Is it possible to do this without affecting the whole drive?

thanks

Hello.

NO both the "clean all" and the "clean" commands will destroy data on the Hard Disk Drive; "clean all" will over-write all the data with zeroes and "clean" will remove all the format date from the HDD do not use either on a HDD that has data you need to save.

A better option would be to use Option Three in this tutorial at the link below to do a partition specific wipe (secure erase) to a specific partition, this will not affect other data on the HDD at all.

Partition Wizard : Use the Bootable CD
