Solved Diskpart Quick Question!

Hey folks,

I'm doing a clean install of windows 7 but I have 3 partitions on on 1 TB Drive. My question is I just want to wipe a partition with diskpart but not the other two. So I'm gathering after I select the disk and then the particular partition I want to wipe and then enter the command "clean all" that should be all there is to it am I correct?

Then after create primary partition align=1024 then enter then select the new partition and set it active and reboot. Should be all set to install new system correct?

Clean all will wipe the entire drive of all partitions, as will a "clean" command. You can still use diskpart to format a certain partition leaving the others in tact but that's about it. Also, in win 7 diskpart defaults to 1024 alignment on creating partitions, so I don't believe you need to even use that command....

Do not use either the clean or the clean all on any Hard Disk Drive that has data on it you want to keep it will do the entire HDD and all data will be lost; you can use Option Two in this tutorial to do a partition-specific wipe secure erase to a single partition.

Thanks for your replies people I did find this right after I posted my topic and it worked like a charm. It's really an exceptional program, a nice gui and loaded with every tool you could possibly need..Thanks again..Seth
