Display does not resume after long idle times.

Hi,
So I intermittently leave my computer on overnight or when I leave for school, and when that happens, when I come back, it does not resume properly and I have to restart.

Is my question too vague? Let me know if you need more information.

I've seen that issue occasionally on my test box.

What i do that fixes it is:
- Turn the monitor off/on.
- Switch my KVM to use the other PC for the monitor, and switch it back to the PC that just woke.

I use Hybrid Sleep, and rarely turn off a PC, i use sleep and hibernate.
I don't use a screen saver.
I have 2 multi-boot PC's and use a KVM switch.

Maybe it's best if you start with checking your power settings.

Hi Djask,

Do you use any KVM switch with your setup ? I agree with DavidE's suggestion to use a KVM switch to solve this issue.

Or if you do not use KVM switch with your setup, you can use an EDID-Emulator putting it between your monitor and your system's video output line. An EDID-Emulator is just like a always-on monitor and keep the link and communication to your computer, so your computer will think the monitor is always there, even you turn off your monitor.
