hey,

i have a AMD Radeon HD 5700 graphic card and as of recently its been showing a lot of screen corruption either as soon as i get to desktop (more accurately 2-3 mins after) or 10 minutes after. i not everytime i turn the computer on it will show this detect drivers done, no driver found thing even though the computer says the graphic card is running fine and detects it..

The oddest thing is if it stops having its fits i can play games perfectly fine without any hiccups or the problem ever occurring again(until i turn the computer off and deal with it the next time i turn it on) and it has blue screened but only once saying "attempt to reset display driver and recover from timeout failed" along with *** STOP: 0x00000116 (0xFFFFFA800AF9A4E0,0xFFFFF88003C91CAC,0x0000000000000000000,0

*** atikmpag.sys - Address FFFFF88003C91CAC base at FFFFF88003C85000, Datestamp 55c01884

here is a video (not a good one) recorded from laptop of the problem that occurs after 1-5 minutes

https://youtu.be/3iiEaF4ncjw
(note this is being recorded from a laptop, its not actually mirrored)

i don't know what the problem is, some people said it was due to a bad driver install or that version or its a bad stick of ram, some said the bios need to be updated or it was the motherboard. Its not due to overheating i don't think, the graphic cards temp was 38-40c the entire time idle..

Do i need a new graphics card? or is this a windows 7 coding bug or something, could it be a dust build up?

Thanks for your help in advance

Mido

A STOP 0x116 is always down to a video card problem and could be due to a number of things. The first thing to try would be a clean install of your ATI driver, it may not be the issue in this case but at least it will rule it out.

Download the latest driver for your card driver from here and save it to your desktop. Download DDU and follow http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/367109-display-driver-uninstaller-how-use.html to remove all traces of your current driver. Reboot and install the downloaded driver.

Report back when this is complete, if the problem is persisting we can look at other possibilities and troubleshooting methods.

didn't work =/, maybe i should just install my old driver..its not as good but maybe the graphic card is just unstable in general..i mean my friend did give it to me for free since he was not using it and it was in his house for a year in a anti static bag..hmm not sure

Try stressing the card and see what happens, keep an eye on the temperatures.

:ar: Run Furmark to stress test your GPU. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100356-video-card-stress-test-furmark.html

   Note
Run Furmark for around 30 minutes.
   Warning
Your GPU temperatures will rise quickly while Furmark is running. Keep a keen eye on them, if the temperature continues to rise steadily once it has reached 80°C be prepared to stop the test so as to not damage your GPU.

i cant even get to stressing it tbh, about 2-3 or so minutes after i first start it up it starts doing that so as i get steam open and get to running a game its already doing it, the temp is at 39c idle

edit: i got binding of issac to run..its just freaking out in the background

It sounds like the card is on its way out to be honest.
