I just went and bought windows 7 and had it installed on my computer with some help.

It runs amazing with one major exception.

The screen will occasionally black out, then work fine again after displaying this error

"Display driver stopped responding and has recovered"
"Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 195.62 stopped responding and has successfully recovered"

It happens more frequently when I play games.

My friends think my video card is dying, but I am unsure and figured Id check on here.

Did you try reinstalling it?

Tried reinstalling it, tried examining it for any damage, and nothing. Nothing happens with the reinstallation, and no damage on it whatsoever, perfect shape.

My friends claim my video card is dying. But I aint 100% sure.

I checked and it does show in the bios, and no I did not have it overclocked. I asked my friend to do it but he said it was a bad idea, so he ended up not doing it. I know that particular card is very capable of being overclocked very well, but It was never done.

Now my computer seems to be getting shorter and shorter delays between each "display driver not responding but it was recovered". I just turned on my computer this morning, and within the first 10 seconds of looking at my desktop, it did it, with no programs being opened. Sometimes it wont do it for like a good 5-10 mins but thats if Im lucky.

If I try to watch a video on youtube, or play a game (World of Warcraft), it instantaneously does it like crazy, and eventually my computer screen goes black, and I have to push the button on the computer to turn it off, and back on to start it.

@DragonLink welcome to seven forums: You said you have friends is it possible for you to try your card in one of their systems? Cause that is some serious artifacting. Just a thought. Fabe

I purchased a HP laptop back in dec '07 which came with Vista Home Premium installed. I usually got the error when I was using Windows Movie maker to create a movie. The problem went away after I switched my theme to Vista basic. I now have windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit and using 7 Basic theme. No problems so far. I also clean out the vents with compressed air every couple of weeks.

the nvlddmkm issue is a curse. I suggest you to do a clean install, install basic drivers with windows update, install 1 game, play for a few days. If you don't have nvlddmkm bluescreen or video hardware problems in the "reports and solutions", then you can assume it's either 3rd party software, or other drivers related. If you still have the issue, then you can always RMA the video card.

I had 3 RMA and that never changed anything, at this point all I can think of is that some components aren't compatible with each other...

Good luck
