This issue has come up many many times and unfortuantely there really isn't a fix all for the problem.
As I posted here - http://www.sevenforums.com/graphic-cards/1348-driver-stopped-responding-recovered-3.html#post462479 there are many theories on the causes as well as fixes. While one fix might work for some, others find they don't work at all.
And this issue affects both card manufacturers, ATI & Nvidia.
It's starting to point more and more to a Window's issue, but....
One other thing - If you're overclocking in any way, I would start there first. And no, you don't need to be overclocked the experience this issue, so.
