needs a driver re-install using this method.

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

Or Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

I think it's a reasonable assumption that no solution to this problem has been found. A search of several help forums reveals this happens with a variety of graphics cards and operating systems since XP. I have the problemin both my laptop and desktop computers, both running Windows 7 home premium 64 bit and Nvidia graphics cards. I do no gaming. My black screens happen either toggling through pictures in the Windows picture viewer or when I'm closing IE9. I'm a heavy Photoshop user but the problem has never happened even when I've taxed my RAM to the max. The problem did not start to happen until both computers were about a year old. I've conscientiously kept both cleaned to minimize heat retention due to accumulated dust. So far the problem is an annoyance and only caused me to lose work once. Still, It seems strange that no one has identified a set up that eliminates this problem. I've tried some of the proposed solutions, but nothing has cured the problem.
