Display goes off the screen

I was looking in the display settings of my computer, and under the color settings I clicked 'advanced' button (wanting to see the options.) Next thing I know-- the display went right of the screen in all direction and now refuses to go back to normal.

I went for a system restore to try and resolve it, but whenever the computer reboots it says this: Could not configure windows update, undoing changes now. It then promptly reboots and throws me back to the off screen resolution problem.

A system restore has always fixed my problems, but it seems my computer doesn't want to system restore anymore

I have a intel 4 IGM HD chip and connect up to my main display with an HDMI cable.

Any ideas how to get my computer back to normal?

I tried that, but it didn't work. The next thing I did was to restore the machine from a recent image file. I still can't get 1920x1080 to display properly, but 1650x1050 works OK.

Some of the settings, like auto-adjust are faded out in my monitors little smart menu too.

The image I restored to was taken when the machine was working 100%, but yet my display still won't work right. Line of thought: the display is crunked.

1) Open up the start menu

2) Type devmgmt.msc

3) Open device manager

4) Open up Display Adapters

5) Double click on the Intel entry.

6) Click the driver tab

7) Choose rollback driver

I need to know some things.

- Are you running with dual graphic cards?
- Do you have dual-monitors connected ?

And could you try to take a screenshot and let me review that?

No dual graphics, and it's only a HD-LCD connected via HDMI. No worries though, i got a replacement display sent out some days ago and all is well again. Thanks for the interest :)
