Display mis-aligned

Hi all.
Running a Dell Inspiron One 19 which has everything built in, running 64 bit Windows 7. The display in BIOS & during the Windows loading screen is fine. However, as soon as it hits the login screen the display is mis-aligned to the right & I have some 3 inches of screen which I am unable to view or have access to.

I've updated the display driver (Intel G41 Express Chipset) which hasn't helped.

As the system is all-in-one there is no port for me to hook up another monitor.

I have tried using the auto adjust feature which is built into the system but that makes the alignment even worse!

Can anyone offer some suggestion on how I can get everything correctly aligned?

Hey Scamps, thanks for trying us out for help. It seems you have a rare issue going on here, could you help us out with some more information about your computer? Try and fill out the system specs area of your user profile so we can see what hardware you have and try to help from there.

Hi Zen, the system belongs to a friend of mine hence not listed as my system spec. The spec is as follows:
Processor: Intel Celeron 450
Chipset: Intel G41
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
RAM: 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 800MHz (2x1GB)
HDD: 500GB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache
Graphics: Integrated Intel GMA x4500 Graphics
Display: 18.5" (47 cm) 16:9 WXGA (1366x 768)

I have managed to get a viewable display by setting the resolution to 600 * 800 but this is less than optimal for the screen size. It is however, the only resolution that gives correct alignment allowing full screen display.

I noticed that when I updated the driver, during the flicker where the old driver is uninstalled & the new driver is installed the screen displayed correct alignment but it was very brief.

In addition, Windows updates shows there is a newer driver available but consistantly fails to install it. I went direct to Intel for the newer driver but receive a message stating that the driver in use is customised by the manufacturer & therefore is not compatible. The current driver installed is the latest available from the Dell website for this machine.

I am assuming it is a driver issue but as the machine is out of warranty, Dell support is going to cost money so I'm hoping I can avoid the cost by gaining help via the forums.

Looking at your system specs there should be no reason why your computer cannot run Windows 7, therefor we have two options. 1. If you want we can go further towards trying to diagnose the problem. 2. If you are an only user and don't expect people to be snooping in your computer, we can by-pass the login screen in its entirety so you never have to see it. 3. Bonus option! We reformat and see if that fixes the problem (a good option if you haven't done it for more than a year), this tends to fix issues quite often that have to do with corruption of Windows files.
