When I hover over minimized firefox windows displays a small picture of the tabs I have open in firefox....what is that and how do I turn it off?

Additionally, how do I turn off the snap screen affect? When I move my window to the top of the screen it maximizes....hate it.

This doesn't only happen when it's minimized, by the way. It happens any time you hover over Firefox's taskbar button.

Anyway, here's how to change Firefox's Taskbar Preview behavior:

1. Go to Tools > Options
2. Switch to the tab called "Tabs"
3. Disable "Show tab previews in the Windows taskbar"
4. Click OK

If you want to completely disable Taskbar Previews entirely so that absolutely nothing pops up when you hover over an opened item on the Taskbar, then I can show you how to do that.

This is Aero Snap, and here's how to disable it:

1. Open the Ease of Access Center control panel
2. Click any of the following:
   • Make the mouse easier to use
   • Make the keyboard easier to use
   • Make it easier to focus on tasks
3. In any of these, look for "Make it easier to manage windows". The name of the actual option is "Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge of the screen"
4. Enable that option
5. Click OK (or click Apply first if you want to test this before exiting this control panel)

Ok, cool. This will affect everything you open, not just Firefox:

1. In the Registry, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
2. In the right-hand pane, create a new DWORD value called ExtendedUIHoverTime (an easy way to do this is, right-click in a blank area in the right-hand pane and choose New > DWORD (32-bit) Value).
3. As soon as you select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, it gets created without any kind of box or window coming up. It'll be at the bottom of the list of subkeys in the right-hand pane already prepared for you to begin typing the new name. So, just type or copy/paste ExtendedUIHoverTime.
4. After you've given it the correct name, double-click it
5. Switch to the Decimal value
6. In the "Value data" field, type in a time value in milliseconds. 1000 = 1 whole second. There seems to be no limit. As an experiment, I chose 60000 (60,000, or 60 seconds) and it worked. I wasn't willing to try a longer time because I don't feel like waiting longer. lol
7. By choosing a ridiculously long time like this, it will seem as if you've completely disabled Taskbar Previews entirely in Windows.
8. Close the Registry Editor
9. Log out of Windows
10. Log back in
11. Test it out!

The only thing I don't like about this is the Taskbar Preview is extremely handy because you can close anything by simply middle-clicking the Taskbar Preview. You can also right-click the preview to Restore, Move, Size, Maximize, Minimize and Close windows.

First of all, disabling that option in Firefox (that I showed you earlier) stops the Taskbar Preview from showing ALL of the open tabs and changes it to a single Preview (or rather, a normal preview).

Making that change in the Registry simply changes how long the Taskbar Preview takes to pop up. If you did exactly as I instructed, then it should work perfectly. So, I only have one question: what value did you choose for ExtendedUIHoverTime? I chose 60000 (60,000) and it worked: it changed it so that it took 60 seconds for the Taskbar Preview to pop up. What value did you choose?
