I have a strange annoying display problem. basically my windows and the desktop and such do not automatically refresh themselves like they usually do. For example i deleted a folder sending it to the recycle bin. it still goes to the recycle bin however it is still shown in its previous location until i right-click and refresh the explorer window. has anyone seen this before and if so how can it be corrected?
thanks in advance

OK that means that it has been deleted, it is just not registering with the desktop.

Try updating your graphics drivers, or rolling back to an older one.

Update does not fix...

On an HP 6730s, with Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family:

Asking Device Manager to update the driver resulted in a message that driver was up to date.

Using Intel's detector, an update was advised to build 1986. Installed the update (a semi-scary process in itself; no warning of several blank screens, running software by some unheard-of entity) but after reboot no change in behavior.

Test: Open a Word document, view temp file in Windows Explorer. Close Word file. Temp file remains visible in listing; F5 refreshes and temp file disappears.

George

fwiw: a thread at MS TechNet on this issue shows no known solution as of this date.
